Stray Dog
PBS Independent Lens
Behind the leather and chrome lives a man haunted by the brutality of war.
After Winter’s Bone, Debra Granik turned to a documentary on Ron “Stray Dog” Hall, a biker and RV park manager from southern Missouri. Initially embodying stereotypes of “middle America,” Hall is gradually revealed as a Vietnam veteran transformed by his experiences, dedicated to supporting his community and fellow vets. The film, rich with wisdom and heart, captures the bonds of community and, in its second half, offers a poignant glimpse of a changing America.
